The UK government on Saturday
updated the official advisory for citizens traveling to India. New Delhi,
giving a befitting reply to the British government, had made quarantine
mandatory for citizens coming to the country. British officials have said
that they are in constant contact with Indian officials in this matter.
The travel advisory, updated by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development
Office (FCDO), states that from Monday, all travelers traveling to India will
face a mandatory ten-day quarantine. Along with this, there will also be
an additional Kovid-19 test on the eighth day.
A UK government
spokesman said, "Indian officials are responsible for making and enforcing
the rules for entry into India. We are in contact with them, and will
update GOV.UK with new information on any changes to the rules.
The updated
FCDO advisory states that all passengers arriving in India, irrespective of
their vaccination status, will have to undergo a COVID-19 RT-PCR test at their
own cost, upon arrival at the airport and eight days after arrival. Also,
you will have to compulsorily stay in quarantine for 10 days.
The advisory
states that all such passengers will be regularly monitored by the
state/district health authorities under isolation/quarantine. Let us
inform that the Government of India had given a befitting reply to Britain in
the past. Actually, Britain has not approved India's vaccine certificate,
due to which Indians going to the UK have to compulsorily remain quarantined. Only
after this, the central government had also changed the rules for British
citizens coming from Britain to make quarantine, Kovid-19 test etc. mandatory.
